The 24
When I first arrived in London, it rained for about two weeks straight. So this was my first impression of the city, as seen from the top of one of those iconic double-decker buses. Speaking of which, if you ever have occasion to visit London, can I suggest you travel as much as possible by bus? You see a good deal more of the city that way and they really are wonderfully convenient.

The Old Vic Tunnels
A couple weeks ago, I went to the new performance place in the old Waterloo underground tunnels, now known as The Old Vic Tunnels. They had all kinds neat pieces set up depicting the various circles of hell, as inspired by Dante's Inferno. Most of them didn't photograph well in the dark tunnels, but this turned out nicely--a portrait created by chipping away parts of the plastered wall.
Speaking of hell, happy Halloween!

Community garden
Community garden in Kentish Town. I couldn't figure out how you get involved, but seems like a great way to get some fresh vegetables. Reminded me that I once heard Britons were at their healthiest during wartime rationing: very little red meat, no butter, less sugar, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Maybe we should reintroduce rationing? Hmmm...

Pigeons
Perhaps not the most interesting subject in the world, but I liked the way they were all lined up in a row.

Kentish Town Baths
There's an old bath in Kentish Town that has been recently refurbished and turned into modern gym facilities. The old signs reading "Ladies Baths," "Gentlemen's Baths," and "Lower Classes" are still there.

O.G.Designs interview next week!!
Potter
On a recent walk through Hampstead, my current favorite neighborhood in London, I passed this potter's workshop. It was closed (or, rather, "Shut" as the sign on the door read) but the enormous windows gave a clear view of the chaos of this person's workspace. I liked imagining what it must be like when it's busy.

Food is your weapon
This is an image from the Ministry of Food exhibit at the Imperial War Museum. Not exactly the greatest exhibit I've ever been to, but I loved this stencil drawing. Sums up WWII propaganda so beautifully -- food is your weapon against Hitler!

Royal College of Midwives
The Royal College of Midwives! Midwives, most of whom were women, were important healers in Western societies for centuries until the professionalization (and masculinization) of the medical field pushed them to the margins. Not sure if this college is a remnant of the old days or an example of the growing popularity of midwives in the 21st century.
WOW!!
I really really want to be this guy! His work is out of this world and would please like to know why i was not taught this in art class as school!!

SNAP CLICKER Interview!!
Easy now SnapClicker we will start of with asking you where your from, what you do and how long you have been doing your thing for?
I live in a basement in the suburbs of Londinium and i take photographs. I've been taking flicks since i got into graffiti at about 15.
What camera do you use for the moment?
I use a battered 5 year old Canon 350D with a cheapskate Sigma 17-70 lens and when I'm upping my street cred in Shoreditch i like to whip out my Holga 120CFN. I use Hipstamatic because it makes things look like they should be on a blog.....
What camera would you like to be using?
My Canon over anything. It's like any artform really, once you know your own kit inside out you'll get the best results.

What do you like to take snaps of?
I like shooting trees, dogs, my girl and my friends. Anything with a sunset in is a bonus as i don't really have to do anything. Also, musicians and spraycan's help boost my blog ego.We know that photography is a big subject and I'm sure you have taken thousands of photos, is their any shoots that stand out more then the rest?Yeah there are a couple. I got some friends to drive me to a spot to shoot some amazing nature reserve development site. There were rows of about 100 silver birches next to some water. The driver lost the car keys and a half hour trip turned into 5 hours walking in circles! Anything outdoors in the summer is pretty fun. The most memorable shoot isn't even really mine though. I'd hitched a ride with Towns and Choe from RT and we met up with Asure ATG and my friend Will Robson Scott. He was in the process of shooting his Ego Bombing project, a series of portraits of graffiti writers. They took us to this huge abandoned warehouse for a paint and some pics. Will took Choe onto the roof and shot one of my favourite photos ever of him looking out over a yard. We painted a turbo blockbuster and had some laughs. Urban.
Any inspirations to how you photograph?
I don't know really. I like to shoot things that look like memories, kinda fuzzy, out of focus, lots of sunlight. Friends, movies and music inspire me the most.Looking at your blog pretty much every day i can see that you are into your music-does that come into your work at all?Yeah, i don't think there'd be one without the other. I've started a drum and bass label called Educated Audio. Taking photos and helping producers get their music heard are like dream jobs to me, so right now I'm the luckiest guy in the world. My good friends Cyantific and Wilkinson are both amazing producers and sitting in their studio and documenting the madness is a total pleasure. Anyone reading this should check out their music, as well as www.myspace.com/educatedaudio (shameless plug...)
First tune you think of?
Thanks for your time Mr Clicker any shout outs?
Headnods to Freckles, Cyan, Wilkinfoot and Goldie. Squash, Brother, Deep Focus, Dan Marshall, Syntex, Fred V and anyone else involved with Educated. Meka, Derok, Corsini, all of RT, BRS, Will Robson Scott my Plastic Bones family and Spray Beast!

A.D. 1995
There are a few rows of these housing units on a street near my house. I found them quite charming and reminiscent of small English villages. The style fits in well with all the Victorian rowhouses. But notice the cornerstone at the top of the building which reads A.D. 1995. Buildings like this fascinate me: they obviously tore something down in order to build a brand new building that was deliberately meant to look old. What genuinely old building did they have to bulldoze in order to build this one?

Elephant
Ham over at London Daily Photo has been finding elephants all over the city as part of his series "London's Elephants." I've been following the blog for a while so I was very excited to find a London elephant of my own! This one is outside a shop in Hampstead (see the matching one just behind it?).
INFAMY
Take an intense journey into the dangerous lives and obsessed minds of 6 of America's most prolific graffiti artists. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Doug Pray who teamed up with writer, publisher, and graffiti guru Roger Gastman, the movie takes you deep into the world of street legends Saber, Toomer, Jase, Claw, Earsnot and Enem. With brutal honesty, humor and charisma, these artists reveal why they are so willing to risk everything to spray paint their cities with "tags," "throwups" and full-color murals. You'll also meet Joe "The Graffiti Guerilla" Connolly, a notorious "buffer" who paints out graffiti on his neighborhood's walls with a vengeance matched only by those.
Doug Pray directs INFAMY, a compelling documentary about graffiti artists in major American cities. By closely examining the lives, lifestyles, and philosophies of seven individual artists, Pray evades a generic overview of the subculture, creating instead a powerful, personal film.
